Eden V. Evans is an interdisciplinary artist and material researcher living and working in Berkeley, CA. Evans studied sculpture and textiles at San Francisco State University (BA 2015) before receiving her MFA from the University of Oregon (2021) in interdisciplinary art practice. She has exhibited work at Berkeley Art Center, Oregon Contemporary, Root Division, Palo Alto Arts Center, Tropical Contemporary, Incline Gallery, Eugene Contemporary Art’s Anti-Aesthetic and the John A. Legnitto Environmental Learning Center. She has been in residence at Recology SF and StudioSpace in Emeryville, CA.
In 2020, Evans founded the Center for Investigation of Land Mass Agency (CILMA) a field study project, which centers its inquiry on embodied knowledge and relational aesthetics for the more-than-human world. Since the beginning of 2025, Evans has been developing methodologies for weaving glass tapestries and baskets using kiln-forming. Historically, tapestry and basket weavings have been methods of storytelling or record keeping, existing as a library or storage container for information to be passed on. Evans uses tapestry and basket weaving techniques to create glass objects which act as archives, preserving and sharing stories of at-risk interwoven ecological systems in woven glass forms. Through process, color, imagery, and form: Evans meditates on the systems and cycles of our planet, considering how these fragile networks draw parallels to our human experiences both in our lives and in relation to the ecological systems that drive earth.
